PTSD Repository
For Providers
The PTSD Repository is a useful tool for staying up-to-date with PTSD clinical trials
research, to inform your work and to support patient education. Currently, the PTSD Repository includes 550 clinical trials published between January 1, 1988 and April 1, 2024.
Finding relevant clinical trials
Use the table
below to identify all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the PTSD Repository of a specific
treatment. The “Filter” below will
populate treatments by how common they are or you can type a treatment name in
the search to find your preference(s).
When you choose a treatment name, the table displays study arms from
trials that include your selection. Some studies have more than one arm with
your chosen treatment. For example, if you chose "Prolonged Exposure" for the Standardized Treatment Name, a Study ID would be repeated with a
different arm label (e.g., acierno2017_A is Prolonged Exposure in person and
acierno2017_B is Prolonged Exposure via video).

To learn more about PTSD outcomes in the studies from the table above, you can find standardized effect sizes in datasets on the PTSD Repository. Within group effect sizes are an analog of Cohen’s d estimate of pre-post change for a specific treatment. Between group effect sizes are Hedge’s g estimates of the difference in change between the active treatment and the comparison condition.

You can also learn more about PTSD treatment outcomes from select studies included in the PTSD Repository using Metapsy. This site allows you to see summarized effect
sizes (meta-analyses) for the following treatments:
- Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Trauma-focused Cognitive Therapy (TF-CT)
- Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
- Exposure Therapy
- Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- CBT without trauma-focus
- Other trauma-focused therapy
- Other non-trauma-focused therapy
